About Me - Dean DeLabar
I have worked as a UNIX Systems Administrator since 1995. I have worked for several companies (due to out-sourcing) supporting AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Agere Systems and LSI.
The first Systems Administration Position was supporting a locally developed product tracking system. This system was used to track Integrated Circuit production in clean rooms at various AT&T (Lucent Technologies) locations. We supported both the development group and the production systems. The tracking system (called Process Control) initially used AT&T 3B computers and a database system called ShareBase. This was eventually migrated to a Sun Solaris hardware platform with a Sybase database.
My next assignment was to support the R&D developers at Lucent Technologies. The R&D organization was comprised of Integrated Circuit design and test engineers. This environment changed several times over the years. Mostly it was a UNIX (Sun Solaris) and Linux (Red Hat enterprise) environment. We used NIS for name service. The environment changed from users with thier own Sun Workstations to an environment using GoGlobal (by Graphon) on Windows laptops to access a UNIX windowing environment. We also supported a large UNIX / Linux compute farm. The engineers used this compute farm to run CPU / Memory intensive jobs. The purpose was to efficiently use the corporate IT resources.
I have earned my Real Estate Licence in the state of Pennsylvania, but I am not active at this time. I was a Realtor for Century 21 Pinacle and Power Realty from 2006 until 2009.
I am a member of the National Ski Patrol. In the winter you will find me patrolling at Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton.
